Tour Description
The Food & Wine Academy of Florence offers special culinary programs. Choose to join an in-depth Tuscan culture experience being surrounded by Italian flavours, in Florence & Chianti. Our classes are offered as an insight into a typical Tuscan cuisine. Classes are small and intimate. Italian quality is guaranteed!
Day 1
Your full immersion program begins with grocery shopping at the central market!! You will go shopping with our Chef Giovanni picking up the ingredients for your lunch. You will meet the butchers, the bakers, and the farmers selling vegetables from their gardens. Learn how to distinguish the highest quality ingredients and how to bargain! You will taste local foods & wines. After this fun experience you will reach the house and start the lessons in a private kitchen. A true hands-on experience! With your apron on prepare your own meal, made of Bruschetta, Fresh Home-made Pasta, and a main course, accompanied with a selection of Chianti wines. Early afternoon free for relaxing or sightseeing but be ready for 6pm, when you’ll have a special Wine Tasting class at a lovely “Enoteca” downtown. Two hours of full immersion into the wine history, making techniques, and learning how to taste and appreciate the different wines.Dinner free and overnight.
Day 2Reach Giovanni at 12.00 for your second experience. Try out your expertise and focus deeper on topics of Tuscan cuisine like vegetables, bread, meat and desserts… accompanied by wines.
Today,At the end of the class Giovanni will taste your food for graduation..if you have been an attentive student you will receive your Certificate! And celebrate with some special wines along!
Optional Extension
Day 2 Afternoon
After your second class you will enjoy a free afternoon for sightseeing or relaxation. Enjoy a special tasting dinner in a typical restaurant of the city centre, with wine and food combination and explanation. Overnight in hotel.
Day 3
Morning check out at hotel. Our car will take you to the Chianti area, where at her hous, you will meet our Chef Veronica. In her vegetable garden you will pick up the ingredients for this very special traditional Tuscan cuisine lesson, where “Pollo al Mattone” (Chiken a’ la brick) and many other recopies will be unveiled. Chianti wine will be poured along. In the afternoon we will drive you back to Florence city centre at about 5pm.
End of service.
This tour operates rain or shine. This is not an escorted group tour. Although assistance is always guaranteed, customers will travel on individual basis. Lessons are group based.
