Description

Choose to visit one of the most famous museums in the world with a private guide: an unforgettable Accademia private tour!

Florence, the “cradle of the Renaissance'' , the city that gave birth to thousands of gorgeous artistic masterpieces and thousands of ideas. Among all these you certainly don’t want to miss seeing Michelangelo’s David in the Accademia Gallery!

Make the most of your time in Florence booking our signature Private Accademia Gallery Tour, especially planned to offer you, and your family or group of friends, an exclusive, and breathtaking, artistic experience.

Meet your dedicated private English-speaking guide, a licensed professional specialized in art and art history, and set off to discover the magnificent Accademia Gallery. Enjoy the privilege of priority reserved access to the Museum, which allows you to avoid the longest queues. Located in the heart of town the Accademia Gallery is home to one of the world’s most famous artworks: Michelangelo’s David, a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture.

Originally placed beside Palazzo Vecchio, the city town hall, the statue was transferred to the Accademia from Piazza della Signoria in 1873. Sculpted in marble by young Michelangelo between 1501 and 1504, the statue symbolizes the defense of civil liberties embodied in the Republic of Florence, an independent city-state threatened on all sides by more powerful rival states and by the hegemony of the Medici family.

After delving into the history and artistic value of David, enjoy admiring Michelangelo’s famous unfinished statues - the Prisoners, St. Matthew and the Pietà - and, time permitting of the other artworks on display. Among these are remarkable 13th to 16th century religious paintings, 19th century plaster sculptures and a collection of antique musical instruments from the Cherubini Conservatory.

NOTE: Please consider that access to the Accademia Gallery entails a mandatory security check. In high season this might imply waiting a while even with skip-the-line priority tickets.
