Leave the tourist crowds behind, spend a memorable day exploring la laguna, Venice’s breathtaking lagoon, with our signature private day trip to Murano and Burano.
Just imagine what you’re in for: a day trip to Murano and Burano which will allow you to cruise over the shallow silver-grey 550 square kilometer Venice lagoon which houses spectacular Venice and the dainty lagoon islands! In the Venice lagoon, second-largest wetland in Europe, salty sea tides blend with the freshwater brooks that come from the Alps, creating the perfect environment for white ibis, crabs and over 200,00 species of rare birds.
Our exclusive day trip to Murano and Burano takes you through the lagoon aboard a private boat, to discover this blissfully diverse ecosystem, and the history and heritage of Venice, Murano and Burano. All with the privilege, and privacy, of a private cruise and private dedicated tour leader.
Ships ahoy! Your fabulous day trip to Murano and Burano starts at the Saint Mark’s docks where your guide will escort you on board your private motorboat, and as you set sail, start illustrating Venice’s unique features and eventful history.
Floating across the lustrous lagoon you’ll reach delightful Murano, haven of the Venetian glass-making tradition. Ever since the 1300s, when glass production was moved here from Venice to preserve the main historic center from the danger of fires, artisans here have been creating exceptional glass objects and artwork, comprising the famous Venetian beads and chandeliers and more. Follow your guide through the pretty island streets and learn all about the local handcrafting techniques during an enlightening visit to a state-of-the-art authentic glass factory.
Enjoy the privilege of accessing the work area to watch the artisans perform their stunning art: glass-blowing!
Then board your private motorboat again ( and enjoy a refreshing drink if you wish, your motorboat is fully stocked!) and sail to Burano, the enchantingly colorful fishermen island which brightens up the lagoon.
Indeed, travelers that reach Burano are always impressed by its multicolored houses - whose reds, yellows, blues and greens are reflected by the lagoon water - and evocative atmosphere. Stroll the charming town alleys and streets, admire the flower-filled balconies and, below them, elderly ladies embroidering the famed Burano lace and children playing.
Hear the island anecdotes from your guide, and learn the romantic local legend about Burano lace: the island women started this craft because the village girls wished to imitate a mermaid’s wedding veil!
Browse the little shops to see the lovely lace, and perhaps purchase some. Stop for photos in the prettiest spots and catch unexpected views of eternity.
Finally board your motorboat again and sail back to Venice; for a perfect crescendo end to your day trip to Murano and Burano enjoy a stop at San Giorgio Island or Giudecca and farewell onboard glass of chilled Prosecco.
