The Underground Chambers of Florence

If your guests wish to find out more about the Medici dynasty, then we suggest a visit to The Medici Chapels: a vast religious complex of great historical and architectural interest. The large crypt, which holds the tombs of the Medici family, was built following a design by Buontalenti. The underground chambers of the San Lorenzo Church, restored after the flood, house the simple and suggestive Tomb of Cosimo the Elder, inserted into the central pillar underneath the main altar, where we find right next to his side the Tomb of Donatello, whose plaque was placed eventually in a later time period, in the 18th century.
