On the way relish the views: here mountains dive into the sea creating a dramatic vertical scene of dizzying cliffs crowned by verdant gardens, sweet-scented citrus fruit orchards and exquisite pastel-hued villages. Stop at a local family-owned organic lemon farm and limoncello factory and discover the unique characteristics and flavor of the award-winning “sfusato amalfitano”, the celebrated Amalfi lemon. Large, juicy and intensely scented this is an essential ingredient of the area’s gastronomy: its juice, peel and even the leaves are used in the local cuisine! Visit the farm and limoncello factory, taste luscious home-made lemon cake, tangy fresh lemonade and sublime refreshing limoncello. Then set off to visit an extraordinary local winery nestled on the cliffside between Positano and Amalfi. Comprising a series of small vineyard plots cultivated vertically right on the cliff, and an astounding underground wine cellar dug into the dolomitic-limestone rock the winery is simply amazing. Explore the fascinating cellar, learn about the wines and admire the sturdy French oak barriques where they age.
