Learn your way around, see the treasures and breathe in the exotic atmosphere of one of the most romantic and amazing cities in the world! Our enlightening half day orientation visit allows you to discover the city’s main historic center and major landmarks and get acquainted with Venice’s one-of-a-kind way of life escorted by your dedicated guide. Walk along the canals lined by gorgeous ancient palaces and through airy squares embellished by statues and fountains, learn about the city’s eventful history, catch unexpected views. Marvel at the grandeur of St Mark’s Square, a showpiece which beautifully represents the splendor of Venice's past. Flanked by the arcaded Procuratie building and Correr Museum the square is crowned by the Venetian-Byzantine domes of the grandiose St Mark’s Basilica. Founded in the 9th century to house the remnants of St Mark the church burned down in 976 and was rebuilt as we see it today: polychrome domes, a Greek cross layout and walls clad in marbles from Syria, Egypt and Palestine. Admire the gothic architecture of the Doge's Palace, once seat of the government, Palace of Justice and prison, as well as home of the Doge, and the famous and hauntingly lovely Bridge of Sighs.
